Sienna's 12 month old checkup

On April 13th we head to see Dr. Drass for Sienna's 1 year old check up. Sienna is weighing in at 20 lbs. 8 oz (50%), 29.5" long (50%) and her head circumference is 44.5cm (between 25-50%). She is growing right on track and looks healthy. Dr. Drass was impressed by how many words she says and how vocal she has become. I am sure this will come back and bite us somewhere around grade school but for now we are happy. Sienna had to get her 12 month vaccinations and also some blood drawn (checking her lead and Hemoglobin level). So the last part of the appointment did not make Sienna the happiest:)

Time just seems to be going faster and faster so here are a list of things that Sienna is doing now:
  • Eating everything in site. She is now miss independent so if she can't feed it herself then she does not want to eat it. This makes it a little difficult sometime when it comes to variety but we have managed. She also goes through her phases when she will like a food one day and then the next not at all:)
  • Still sleeping through the night. She is currently cutting 3 new teeth so she likes to wake up around 5-5:30 and then cry herself back to sleep until 6:30-7.
  • I am still nursing her but only 1x a day now. I am trying to slowly wean myself. Sienna however is still getting breastmilk but just in a bottle. We have decided to use the breastmilk in the freezer before switching to whole milk.
  • Sienna loves to talk. She says between 10-15 words including Momma, Mommy, Dad, Daddy, Daddo ( a new one recently), hi, hello, bye bye, book, ball, up (one said most often), please (more like peez), Papa, Nana, and baby. She babbles however all the time. It is funny because sometimes she talks with force behind it like she is mad at you while other times she talks really quiet and almost whispers:)
  • Loves her stuffed animals. Her all time favorite is giffy her giraffe that sleeps with her but when she is playing any animal is fair game to a wet kiss or two. She like to play with all of her toys and does a good job playing herself.
  • Still likes to sleep with her taggie blanket and we have limited her pacifier to only at bedtime. I am hoping to get rid of the pacifier by her 15 month appointment:)
  • Discovered the outside world and is loving it. Since the weather has been nice, I have been keeping the sliding door open and she will just stand there for hours and talk to herself. We go to the park OR try to take a walk around the neighborhood everyday when the weather cooperates.
  • Loves animals. We have been working on animal noises and Sienna has caught on quickly. Her favorite is a puppy. She says woof woof when she sees or hears a dog. She can also tell you what a duck, cow, and cat says and we are working on other animals too.
  • She is wearing mostly 12 month top and bottom clothes now. She can fit into 18month onesies but they are still a little big. I looked in her closet the other day and she has more clothes than she know what to do with:) As for shoes she wears a size 4. She got lots of cute shoes for her birthday and we can't wait to put them on.

I am sure that I forgot some things:) Sienna continues to bring so much joy, laughter, and love into our lives and we thank God for her everyday!
